EPirEMed Project

Pyrenean Experiences, Mediterranean Emotions

The Catalan Tourist Board (CTB) participates in the EPirEMed project, which is a step forward in the tourist integration of the eastern Pyrenees territory. Through the collaboration of the main public and private entities in the region in tourism promotion and management, a strategy of visibility, offer and marketing for rural and mountain tourism products will be developed. For this goal, the project will create new tourism products and work on a homologation of the criteria of visibility and quality of the tourist offer for these sectors; finally, a common marketing and promotion strategy will be carried out.

EpirMed will select the offer based on two priorities: sustainable mobility and non-seasonality, linking rural tourism (key to a socially sustainable strategy) with sustainable transport alternatives, and also promoting new emblematic cross-border tourism products, such as the trans-Pyrenean train Barcelona -Toulouse.

The Catalan and French partners of CTB are:

The project has a global budget of more than 1.4 million euros and will be carried out until the end of 2020.

The project has been 65% cofinanced by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Interreg V-A Spain-France-Andorra programme (POCTEFA 2014-2020). POCTEFA aims to reinforce the economic and social integration of the French–Spanish–Andorran border. Its support is focused on developing economic, social and environmental cross-border activities through joint strategies favouring sustainable territorial development.
