The CTB at fairs

The Catalan Tourist Board attends the most important tourism fairs that are held, catering to the three main markets that provide visitors to Catalonia: domestic, regional and international.

Over the course of the year, the Catalan Tourist Board attends more than forty such events, which can be divided into two categories: specialist fairs and generic shows. Outstanding amongst the latter are ITB in Berlin, MITT in Moscow and the World Travel Market in London. The CTB also attends the two major fairs that take place in Spain and Catalonia: Fitur in Madrid; and SITC in Barcelona.

The CTB also participates in shows and fairs that specialise in particular products (active, golf, nature, culinary and business tourism, for example) as part of a clear strategy aimed at segmenting the Catalan tourist industry. By way of example, we can mention the most important business fairs, such as IMEX in Frankfurt and EIBTM in Barcelona, as well as the Gastronomic Forum, which alternates between Santiago de Compostela and Girona each year, and the British Birdwatching Fair, the UK’s most important show devoted to this tourism segment.

The Catalan Tourist Board may participate at these events with its own stand or in cooperation with Turespaña, the official Spanish tourist promotion agency. In this second case, Catalonia’s tourist attractions are included within promotion of Spain as a whole.

To find out which fairs Catalonia will attend this year, see our Fairs calendar (in Catalan).
