EPirEMed Project

Pyrenean Experiences, Mediterranean Emotions

The Catalan Tourism Board (ACT) participated in the EPirEMed project, which represents a step forward in the integration of tourism in the eastern Pyrenees on both sides of the border between France and Catalonia.

Through collaboration between the main public and private tourism entities, new cross-border tourism products have been created with the aim of attracting international visitors through joint promotional activities.

Services, products and experiences have been selected to be promoted based on sustainability, quality and added value for both the tourist and the territory itself, linking rural and mountain tourism with sustainable transportation alternatives.

The multilingual website https://epiremed.eu/en/ gives visibility to 30 new cross-border sustainable experiences, in addition to the services and activities of the SMEs present throughout the EPirEMed territory that have registered on the platform.

The 30 cross-border sustainable experiences, created and marketed by incoming travel agencies in the Pyrenean cross-border territory, are proposals for everyone and with a wide range of themes: family trips, active tourism, historical tours (exile routes), wine tourism, nature and wellness…

The web platform also proposes 17 thematic routes to inspire visitors so that they can plan their trip directly from the more than 650 activities and services proposed by companies in the territory (accommodation, activities, trade and local products, information, restaurants and transportation).

Until the end of February 2022, the Catalan and French partners of the ACT were:

The project had an overall budget of more than 1.4 million and was 65% co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Interreg V-A Spain-France-Andorra Program (POCTEFA 2014-2020). The objective of POCTEFA is to strengthen the economic and social integration of the Spain-France-Andorra border area. Its assistance focuses on the development of cross-border economic, social and environmental activities through joint strategies in favor of sustainable territorial development.
