DOCTORS WILL NOT PAY TAXES TO ATTEND CONGRESSES
The Tax Office has clarified that the training courses for healthcare staff financed by pharmaceutical companies will not be subject to income tax deductions (IRPF). Specifically, Cristóbal Montoro has promised Serafín Montero, President of the Professional Medical Organisation (OMC), to modify article 44 of the IRPF Regulation to include medical training among tax exemptions. This then, clears up the uncertainty generated within the medical sector in May 2017 when the Tax Office had considered that healthcare staff had to “pay in kind” the expenses deriving from invitations to congresses by pharmaceutical companies.
